I decided to place this one as a quick drive by for those
travelling this road
If you decide to enter the reserve then please take note of the
'dos and don'ts' signposted at the entrance to the park and on the
road leading in to the reserve. Also note that the gate to the
reserve is closed in the evenings.
Borenore Caves Reserve is located on the Orange-Forbes road,
some 17km from Orange. The reserve is ideal for a morning
adventure, a mid day exploration, afternoon bush-walk or a day
relaxing in the sun.
There are many caves in the hills surrounding the reserve. All
but three are gated and locked.
Borenore Caves Reserve is an ideal place for the family to enjoy
a relaxing day out - have a picnic lunch and wander over the
reserve and explore the many wonders of The Arch Cave , the Tunnel
Cave and the Verandah Cave. All three are accessible to the public
although Tunnel Cave is closed to the public from May to October
each year so that a colony of Common Bent Wing Bats, which
hibernate there, are left undisturbed.
These undeveloped caves do not have guides or tours, just bring
along your torch, sturdy shoes and common sense and be prepared for
adventure.
Boree Creek which runs through the Arch Cave usually has water
but in summer it often flows underground.
Picnic tables, a gas barbecue & toilets are provided at the
picnic area of the reserve. Camping is not permitted in the
reserve.
