The Village Smithy - Easy terrain, a short walk from legal street side parking area. Perfect for a quick cache and then time to explore the numerous historical markers in town and finally to finish with a fresh lobster roll at the town dock
The Village Smithy This cache is located in the historic town of Castine, Maine where numerous historical markers and remains of battlements still stand guard over the Penobscot Bay. This cache is located on the grounds of the Wilson Museum. In 2013 the blacksmith shop was moved to across the street, so the cache had to be slightly relocated. Aside from exploring the wonderful contents of the museum, which is open everyday in the summer from 2pm – 5 pm, you will need to explore a skill that while still active today was absolutely essential in early American life, especially if you owned a horse. Please be considerate of the museum grounds when hunting for the cache. New cache container placed 1 Nov 22. Please help keep this dry and clean by ensuring the case is closed when replacing in hiding area. Thanks!
