This cache takes its name from the nearby public utility. I had considered the Sweet Smell of Success and the Foul Smell of O’Fallon, so I combined them, probably the wrong way. There are days when you’ll be glad this is a quick find. The city fathers blame the frequent stench on the effluent of a thriving pet food factory. The nearby subdivision homeowners constantly complain about the smell, even though they bought their homes long after the sewage plant was in operation, and suffered with this problem. I don’t know what they were thinking when they plunked down their money and took possession of their deeds. I just think it’s hilarious. BTW, there’s a nice seasonal nursery just down the road. I have no relation with it other than being an occasional satisfied customer.
So, hold your nose, jump out of the car, find this little puppy and sign the log. Hey, nobody ever said every cache has to be pretty!
