Geocache Description:

Return of an old favorite. Almost an intro to night caching.

This cache replaces Here Comes The Night, an old sentimental favorite of mine: my first night cache. It was set up as a primer for night caching, but the Blair Woods was the one that really got the show going.

Use the Carrwood entrance to Pawnee Prairie Park. I would not park on Carrwood itself, because it looks like an invitation to vehicle vandalism. I would park on one of the streets intersecting Carrwood, or even on Denene which parallels Carrwood about a quarter mile west.

The co-ordinates take you to the second reflector on the trail. When you first enter the park, the Return to Blair Woods reflectors jump out at you. Ignore them and head north to your trails beginning point. Once you are started down the correct trail, follow the reflectors to the final. You will be on trails and paths almost all the way. When you leave the trails, it will soon be time to start looking for the final (which, true to established night caching conventions, has multiple reflectors).

This is a relatively simple night cache. It has fewer cliff hazards, fewer trip hazards and less distance. It took me less than thirty minutes to set up from start to finish. Still, I think it has a great finish: I just wish I had more tools to do it up even better.

Follow the reflectors down trails through cedars and grassland. Some woods toward the end and a few ditches to cross. May be a little muddy at times (one part is nearly always muddy). The final is a little bit on the wild side. I heard terrifying owl hooting, saw deer and a wandering dog. There may even be wild turkeys nearby (both feathered and bottled).

The cache is nearly eight feet off the ground to reduce loss due to flooding. If you are much less than six feet tall, please plan in advance how you will get it down and back up. Cache is an ammo box with varous goodies and first to find prize worth about $1.

Please be out of the park before midnight.

By the way, I am thinking of a sequel or a connector that would torque the difficulty up several notches.
