Sunny Valley Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Original A1: OK, again with apologies for the delay in checking this out, I've visited today and GZ is clearly compromised. Rather than flog a dead horse, I'm going to bid a sad farewell to one of my favourite caches. Thank you for all of you who have taken time to work through the puzzle and have visited this pretty part of East Lothian to find the cache.

Geocache Description:

A little musical puzzle (see link below).

This is technically a cache and dash on a picturesque road between Garvald and White Castle, although the whole area comes under the original historical White Castle Estate, named from the ancient nearby hill fort listed in “Buzzard Country” (GCVD24). Nowadays, it is more often referred to as the Nunraw (Nun’s Row) Estate. Indeed, there is an ancient monastery nearby, the Sancta Maria Abbey, which is still in use today.

More about the area can be discovered at the link given above.

I have given the cache its title simply because when I drove along the valley, it was suffused with evening light and showed me an interesting place in which to hide a cache. The co-ords are not for the cache of course, but not too far away. Please bring a pen.

So how to solve: well, I won’t give much away other than to let you know it’s the final movement of Saint-Saens’ Clarinet Sonata in E flat major, Op.167 – well you didn’t expect more than that, did you?! Molto Allegro, folks!
