Not long ago, this area was in the middle of a large forest. It was also the home of a good old feller named Leon Spinksmueller. Leon was a hard working, likeable soul who raised pigs, goats and sheep, and lived off of the land. He built his modest homestead with his bare hands and a few crude tools. Times were tough back then, and to keep afloat, Leon would sell moonshine made from a secret recipe handed down from generations past and homegrown sweet corn from the nearby fields. He was a gentle man who trod lightly.
But there was one thing that would make Leon’s blood bubble quicker than snake venom- Revenuers!! Leon despised revenuers more than he hated his ex-wife or even the shingles that he caught two years ago.
Rumor has it that one particular revenuer from the big city, one Monty Montello, came looking to collect the “state’s rightful dues” from the old man. Rumor also has it that Mr. Montello was never heard from again.
