Geocache Description:

Below the sculpture on the "Highway".

Lady Anne Clifford travelled along this route in the mid-1600s when visiting her estate at Pendragon Castle (GC1YHN9) (formerly the home of Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur of the Round Table). As a millennium project, a sculpture called “Water Cut” by Mary Bourne was sited here in 2000. This is best viewed walking north along the Highway from Hell Gill (GC1ZKPF) (one mile of almost flat walking), when the illusion of flowing water is seen to best effect. You will need to lose a little height to reach the cache which is on a steep slope. The complete route from the Thrang (GC1Z04T) to Cotter End (GC1ZJKV) provides an interesting and relatively easy high-level walk with interesting views, but there is a two foot six width restriction at Cotter End to restrict vehicular access. Look out for a steam train on the Settle-Carlisle line far below.
