Note:
This cache has been placed for Go and Get 'Em 14, and should not be
found until after 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 16th. Anyone
attempting to find this cache before then will risk being thrown
into the stocks, and having rotten fruit thrown at them.
Once upon a time, there was a young geocacher named Gallifrey Girl
who had a passion for literature. She felt the need to share this
passion with the general geocaching population. But she had a
problem. After all, she couldn't give a book to every
geocacher.
And so she sat...
and sat...
and thought...
and thought...
until finally, an idea struck her.
"Ouch!" she exclaimed, clutching her
forehead where the notebook had been viciously (not to mention
mysteriously) flung at her.
She opened the notebook and saw that
not a single word was written in it! Well, she thought, I know how
I can fix that.
So she sat...
and sat...
and wrote...
and wrote...
until finally, a story emerged!
However, she could not think of a
way to end it. Now, the young girl had great confidence in her
abilities as a writer, and so the lack of an ending came as a great
shock and disappointment to her.
"Oh, woe is me!" she wailed,
wringing her hands in despair.
At that moment, by pure chance,
Garmin Gal happened to wander into the room.
"Oh dearest, precious daughter!
Whatever is the matter?" she cried, distressed at seeing her only
daughter in such a state.
"Oh kind, dearest mother! It's my
story! For the life of me, I can not think of an ending for my
story!"
Garmin Gal frowned.
"Oh dearest, lovely mother, can YOU
think of an ending for my story?"
Garmin Gal pursed her lips and
picked up the notebook.
"Well, I don't know. But I'll try,
darling daughter, just for you."
And so she sat...
and sat...
and read...
and read...
and thought...
and thought...
but she couldn't think of an ending either.
"Fear not, lovely daughter!" she
exclaimed at the girl's heartbroken expression. "Perhaps
Tanglebones will know."
But Tanglebones didn't know. Neither
did Peregrine. Elixir didn't know. Nor did anyone else.
"That's enough!" she cried, after
the umpteenth person that day had told her that they hadn't a clue
how the story should end. "I've had enough! Enough of running
about, lending this notebook to so many people that I have to make
up a number just to keep track! I'll just put it in a place that
everyone knows, and if they want to add to it, they can!"
And with that, she sat down
angrily.
"But," said Tanglebones thoughtfully
"What if someone finds it and takes it?"
"Hmmm...." Gallifrey Girl said, and
thought for a moment, then grinned excitedly. "I'll hide it!"
"Will you tell all your geocaching
friends exactly where it's hidden?" Peregrine questioned.
"But of course," she replied,
smiling softly, with a devious glint in her eye. "Once they get
here, R658.11B977 should be all they need to know."
