This cache has been archived.

GeoCrater: I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no word from the owner in the month or more since the last reviewer note was posted. If you want to re-activate the cache during the next couple of months, please contact GeoCrater to see if that's possible. If the cache meets current guidelines, consideration will be given based on the circumstances surrounding the original archival.

NOTE: My preferred method of communication is through notes on the cache page in question. However, should you wish to use email - please do not select "reply". In general, a replay to the geocaching.com mail bot will not reach me. Instead, please go to your cache page and e-mail GeoCrater from the log there or email me directly at geocrater@gmail.com, referencing the cache URL, or waypoint number.

Geocache Description:

Number 6 in the M.H.V. series.

I have decided to do a M.H.V. series of caches and this will be the sixth one of 10 M.H.V. caches.

What is a M.H.V. cache? Well, to put it bluntly, its a place where you can be and see Mt Hood if you are within 100 feet of the cache. For this cache, as long as the sky is clear, you can see Mt Hood from the cache location.

Each cache page will have one small factoid about Mt Hood.

You are viewing Mt Hood over the top of the first part of the Interstate Bridge. Technically it's not the Interstate Bridge but it's not too important. What IS important is sometimes at this very spot you can see some beautiful Herons.

Yes, it's nothing special to see Mt Hood from almost anywhere in or around Portland but the point is to draw the attention to the fact that we are so lucky to have a beautiful view no matter where we are in or near Portland.

The goal is to pick places that aren't spectacular. Nothing special about them other than the view of the mountain.

Mt Hood fun fact:

As of 2007, about 10,000 people attempt to climb Mount Hood each year. More than 130 people have died climbing Mount Hood since records have been kept. Some of the people who have died have never been found. Possibly, someday in the distant future, someone will come across a well-preserved specimen to discover. The famous Kennewick Man is a good example how a body could be preserved if frozen on a mountain.

The cache is a small black container that is supposed to be hidden from everyone. If rehidden properly, even the neighbors won't be able to see it.

The best way to get the cache (for me) would be to lay down and retrieve it. I encourage people to avoid the grass since it will be slippery, houses many snakes (saw one when hiding the cache), bugs and what-not. You don't need to be in the grass to get the cache.

Please Email me if you need another hint.

Congratulations to Scubasonic for the FTF!
