Geocache Description:


Nyköpings nya handelscentrum, invigdes 22 oktober 2008.
Arkelogiska undersökningar gjorde fynd från stenåldern.
Under stenåldern för cirka 5 000 år sedan var detta en boplats och under äldre järnålder (århundradena runt Kristi födelse) begravde man sina döda här.
Pål Jung som gett namn till området var en handelsman från Skottland som redan i slutet av 1500-talet såg möjligheter i Nyköping.

Här finns Elisabet Englunds gestaltning Pål Jungs Fornhage som kommer att möta besökarna till Nyköpings nya handelsplatsen, hon har skapat en rekonstruktion av en forntida gravhög där autentiska fynd står i fokus.
Runt gravhögen finns bänkar och en konstpelare med bilder och text som beskriver platsens historia. Infällda citat i gågatans beläggning lockar besökaren in i området. Ovanpå kullen vilar en rekonstruktion av järnåldersgravar.

Tanken är nu att skapa en plats där besökare kan stanna till och sitta ner en stund mitt i det hektiska vardagslivet och ta del av den lokala historien från stenåldern, järnåldern och renässansen.

During the Stone Age, about 5 000 years ago this was a settlement and the earlier Iron Age (the centuries around the birth of Christ) is buried their dead here.
Paul Jung, which gave its name to the area was a merchant from Scotland who are already in the late 1500s saw the possibilities in Nyköping.

Here is Elizabeth Englund's interpretation Paul Jung's Old Hage will meet visitors at Nyköping new trading venue, she has
created a reconstruction of an ancient burial mound of authentic bargains are in focus.
Around the mound are benches and an artificial pillars with pictures and text describing the history. Recessed quotes in the pedestrian street occupancy invites visitors into the area. On top of the hill lies a reconstruction of Iron Age graves.

The idea now is to create a place where visitors can stop and sit awhile in the middle of the hectic everyday life and take part of local history from the Stone Age, Iron Age and the Renaissance.
