Saddam's Ca$h Cache? Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Knagur Green:

Western Advisory Personnel have now withdrawn from the area, and reinstated it to the local authority. Therefore permission to have a geocache placed in this area is no longer covered by the blanket agreement.

If this is one of the few not placed on a now ex military area, there is no longer any form of maintenance and thus is also archived once reported.

The caches in this area served their purpose and it is time to retire them .

We thank all who found them for their service

Geocache Description:

Coordinates will get you to the starting point...PLEASE READ ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!!

Cache is placed in an abandon Iraqi bunker. The common rumor is that this particular bunker was one of Saddam's Ca$h Caches, where he hid some of his Dinars prior to the kick off of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. While we can not confirm this rumor, it is a cool place to visit. Please beware of the spiders, snakes and geckos which are known to live here. Geckos are the most common you will see.

UPDATED NOVEMBER 2009:

The most common way to get to this cache is to enter Sather AB from the main gate. ID will be required!! From here you will travel south around the search area island as you enter the gate. Head north when you can and turn right on the road which follows the north end of the flight line. Follow the gravel road around heading east. You will pass through another ECP, however; will only need your ID on your return trip. This is best done during day light hours so as to see the needed roadways.

Once you get within 100+/- feet or so to ground zero you will enter the drive-way and go to the left around the buildings, following the dirt trail. The listed coordinates will take you to the closest enterance to the cache. It is up to you to find it from there, as the satellites can't help you underground. Good luck!!

GENERAL RULES FOR CACHING IN IRAQ: This cache is located in a war zone. It is on a coalition controlled installation. You will need proper credentials to gain access to the area. Do not post logs that give any references to what is around the cache site or might otherwise compromise OPSEC.
