Geocache Description:

Another park, think, and grab.

Not many years ago the fields on either side of the Huntington Road were free of brushy plants. The grass was kept short by the cows who fed here, on land that was too steep to mow for hay. The little knoll by the sharp bend in the road was especially picturesque with a Holstein or two atop it. They looked absolutely alpine.

Sometimes commuters would have to stop to let the cows cross the road, and I don't claim to miss those waits. I do miss seeing the cows. Soon we'll be missing the fields, too.

Land use changes as agriculture changes. In the golden days of sheep farming, three-quarters of the state was cleared of trees. Now the ratio of forest to open land has reversed.
