Geocache Description:

This small cache is within easy access from the road but winter access will depend on road conditions. Bring your own pencil. Contains log book only. No trade items.

NOTE: Access can be made from Highway 46, Boom Lake exit or from the town of Marion. This small cache is easy to access with a vehicle except during winter months depending on road conditions. Bring your own writing tool. Contains only a log book. No trade items. Boom Lake (Lake Marion)is the lake that never was. This area was at one time dry and was nothing more than a waterhole until fresh water springs opened up and eventually filled and formed this shallow lake. Boom Lake, named after the late Gene Boom, landowner, has been stocked with perch, northern and walleye and although shallow has provided habitat for area waterfowl and wildlife. Occasional bald and golden eagles can be spotted in the area along with many species of waterfowl, birds and wildlife. Enjoy your visit. Congratulations to mklabo for a quick FTF.
