Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to the amazing men and women with great faith and courage who left their orderly lives to settle along the San Juan to serve as a buffer between the lawless elements and the settlements.

My great grandparents James and Mary Davis were part of the exploring party who lived in Montezuma Creek from 1879 to 1884.

Their story is told in the book “The Undaunted,” a historical novel by Gerald N. Lund.

The cache was hidden by flashlight as we ran out of daylight. I would like to spend more time in this area, but we had to press on.

To find the cache, take the same road as Yucca Plant GC16ER3

Thanks to Finickykatt for maintenance.
