Geocache Description:

For some reason, M'Lord has always had a fascination for the Penny Black stamp, even though he's not a philatelist. He also uses Wikipedia a lot so, to save text on this cache page, here's a link: Penny Black. Look at those amazing facts! But, read them well! You may need them! There's a reason why stamps get cancelled!

Despite the volume of information provided there at Wikipedia, M'Lord will repeat a few important items. The Penny Black was the world's first adhesive postage stamp used in a public postal system. It was issued by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on May 1st, 1840, for use from May 6th of that year. This is an example of how Great Britain once led the world! All London post offices received official issues of the new stamps but other offices throughout the United Kingdom did not, continuing to accept postage payments in cash only for a period. Post offices such as those in Bath, in Western England, began offering the stamp unofficially after May 2nd of that year.

Since M'Lord is British, he's always proud of his heritage. However, he's also very cognizant of the contributions to the development of new technologies from the country (United States of America) that he now resides in. The USA took mankind to the Moon, but M'Lord is sure that there were British technologies that contributed to that achievement!

The year of this stamps publication preceded Jules Verne's visions of a future where mankind would venture to the moon, then the planets, and to far worlds orbiting distant stars but, this was also a year that the USA made significant progress in communications. Therefore, it's not surprising that the English and Americans get along so well! We have common goals! That also explains why M'Lord and m'lady work so well together.

OK ... getting back to this simple puzzle ...

If you are brave enough to go to the published coordinates then, go for it! As of the publication date of this cache, there is no cache on that small island! However, M'Lord is seriously considering investigating it more closely!

The Penny Black stamp picture on this cache page may be a clue, may lead you to a clue, may have a hidden link, may be a red herring, may not have anything to do with the final coordinates, may contain the final coordinates, may just be misleading, may just be a conduit to another world, may lead you somewhere ... or nowhere. We're not giving out any hints (that would be too easy) but, you might want to check out the gallery for this cache and double-check any photographs dated 10/12/2009!

Both M'Lord and m'lady just LOVE challenges!

FTF will get an unactivated "multi-directional" geocoin produced in Germany! Do you need that coin or ... bragging rights for FTF? If you are FTF, you get BOTH!
