Geocache Description:

This is a multi-stage cache. THE FINAL CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES.

You will need to find the first stage of the cache and use the information found to project a waypoint to the final location. Both stages of the cache are within 1km of each other.

Robert James Hilton was a professor and a visionary at the University of Guelph back in the 60’s and 70’s. He submitted several proposals in collaboration with Professors. V. Chanasyk and F.H. Montgomery that were instrumental in the creation of the arboretum as we know it today. Their actions led to the setting aside in perpetuity of 331.6 acres on the east boundary of the campus and Professor Hilton was appointed as the arboretum’s first director in 1970. Hilton initially took office in a converted poultry barn.

The current R.J. Hilton Centre was actually a converted Dairy Barn. The picture below shows what the property looked like back in 1972.
