Geocache Description:

Mc Crory's has moved on long ago, but was located in this shopping center.

Mc Crory’s was a “five & dime” store located in this shopping center when I was growing up. There used to be a small fountain shop inside that I barely remember. As I recall, a fire broke out and burned part of the store, but it was rebuilt and reopened. For many years, the new bricks were a visible reminder that something went wrong one day.

The shopping center was not enclosed as it is today. If you remember those days, you will remember Food Fair (approximately where Safeway now stands), Marty’s, Mr. Chicken (best place to get fried chicken back then) and the turtle for kids to play on in the center of all of the shops.

The shopping center was completely renovated and enclosed in the late 80’s-early 90’s (not sure). Mc Crory’s is long gone, but its memory lives on in those who lived in Bowie during its early days.

Easy cash & dash.
