An idyllic stop on the way from Dungannon to Enniskillen, to ease the monotony of the drive out west!
Ballagh Lough is a surprising little location in close proximity to the A4. Within the Clogher Valley lowlands area it is one of the best examples of a eutrophic standing water. In ecological terms, it has a wide range of aquatic plants that grow in or near water, providing cover for fish and substrate for aquatic invertebrates, produce oxygen, and act as food for some fish and wildlife.
Brown trout can be caught in the lough with a day ticket purchased in Clogher, and there are lots of waterbirds to spot.
There is space to park just at the lough entrance. GPS co-ords may not be entirely accurate under the tree cover, but should be pretty easy to find.
The cache: A 1.1 litre camouflaged tab-lock container, (not near the waters edge) filled with a couple of goodies, and suitable for most trackables. Feedback appreciated. Dr D
