Geocache Description:

This Is a Earth Cache, consequently there are no container here. To get a approval logg se below.

Ásbyrgi canyon.

The horseshoe-shaped depression is part of the Jökulsárgljúfur National Park and measures approximately 3.5 km in length and 1.1 km across. For more than half of its length, the canyon is divided through the middle by a distinctive rock formation 25 meters high called Eyjan (\"the Island\"), from which hikers may enjoy spectacular views.

Ásbyrgi was most likely formed by catastrophic glacial flooding of the river Jökulsá á Fjöllum after the last Ice Age, first 8-10,000 years ago, and then again some 3,000 years ago. The river has since changed its course and now runs about 2 km to the east. The legend explains the unusual shape of the canyon differently. Nicknamed Sleipnir\'s footprint, it is said that the canyon was formed when Odin\'s eight-legged horse, Sleipnir, touched one of its feet to the ground here.

In this area is also the boundary between two tectonic plates, the Eurasian Plate and the North American plate.
The picture shows how the plates are today.

For the valid "cache found" log:

1. It has historically been occasions on which all plates have formed a supercontinent, please mention the name of two of these supercontinents and when they formed.

2. It is estimated that if the plates continue to move, a new supercontinent will be formed, when will it happen and what name have the supercontinent?

3. What is the coordinats of the stone pile on top of the cliff?

4. Measure the height of the cliff (difference in meters between the cache coordinate and the coordinats at the stone pile on top)

5. In your log, it would be nice if you upload two (2) photos of you or your GPS. One at the coordinate of this earth cache. And the second will be taken up on Eyjan "The Island", at the stone pile, it is not required but greatly appreciated!
