If you drive to Eddercliffe Crescent/ Garden Avenue there is room to park at the back of the school. This is usually busy at school pick up and drop off times. This takes you to within 2 minutes of the cache.
Another good place to park is on the dual carriageway outside Royds Park where there is a designated parking spot. It is then a steady walk to the top of the park and onto the Ringway.
The Spen Valley Ringway as it is now known was once part of the Heaton Lodge - Farnley Junction.
Although officially titled the Heaton Lodge & Wortley Railway, during construction it was universally known by the more user-friendly title of the ‘Leeds New Line’. More than 1¾ miles of it was below ground in two tunnels; several hundred yards took to the skies on substantial bridges and viaducts. All told, constructing it robbed the LNWR’s investors of more than £1 million. They began to recoup their investment on 1st October 1900.
At the time of closure British Rail called it The Spen Valley Line.
