Located In Durham, CT on the Bear Rock Trail. This trail is considered "Moderate" by the AMC. Some rock scaling is involved but it can be done by children with adult supervision.
This is a hunting permitted area so please wear some Blaze Orange clothing incase there are hunters in the area. Don't be afraid be aware!
This is the second time I am submitting this cache. It was originally placed in New Hampshire however I was told to remove it because it was within the boundaries of a protected forest area that I was unaware of. Anyways it is not back in Connecticut in my hometown area.
I took my 8 month old nephew for his first hike(via backpack) along with my fiance and our boxer. I was very please with this trail although we took a wrong turn and ended up far away from where we started and had to get a ride back to our vehicle. Don't be a fool like me and forget to mark your car as a waypoint on your GPS. If you do that you will be fine, I however forgot to do that and walked through the woods following this trail into another town. Great hike but not what we had intended on doing especially with a young baby on my back.
Anyways you will climb up some rocks and get to a great overlook spot. You can see Durham and I believe parts of Middletown. It was really beautiful especially this time of year with all the leaves changing colors.
I left my 1st travel bug inside the cache so please take it only if you plan to relocate it and track it online so I can check up on its travel.
We also left a camera for people to take pictures of themselves with the cache and then return it to the cache for later retrieval and uploading of pictures to this cache.
