ivymill: Too many nettles and now not relevant as part of a longer walk, so time to give others the space.

Dog friendly, although the signs say keep on leads due to horse riders.
Mud-wise – the path here can get quite boggy as it is made from the local Greensand, otherwise should hold up well in all weathers.
WBB Minerals, who have been a slightly contentious neigbour to Godstone Village, as a result of mining the sand north of the path here, (see earthcache) have to their credit paid £35,000 in order to fund a major excavation of the Mesolithic site where over 25,000 used flints were found.
This is evidence that the hunter gathers – early ancestors of geocachers, lived here and visited between 8000 and 4500BC.
There are also later Bronze Age and Early Iron Age pits on the site.
There were also 3 complete pots found containing what could be the remains of human cremations.
No such quarries finding the cache located here.
Oh, and the sand from round here is forming the basis of what the beach volleyball and the equestrian events are being staged on during the 2012 Olympics. We are so proud....!
