Geocache Description:

Neda Waterfalls

Neda Waterfalls

NEDA The only Greek river “of feminine gender”.
Neda is the natural boundary between the prefectures of Ilia and Messinia. It begins at the feet of mt. Lykeon and after an amazing and adventurous course through thick vegetation, narrow passages and dark caves, it ends up at the friendly and feltile lands of the gulf of Kiparissia.
According to the Greek Mythology, Neda was a nymph, a godess of the water. When Zeus was born on mt. Lykeon, his mother entrusted his upbringing to the hands of Neda and two other nymphs, Agno and Theissoa. (Today, we can drive through small villages in the area that bear these names.)
In the ancient times the Pelasgi inhabited the area. It is mentioned that Lykaon, the king of Pelasgi built the city of ancient Lykosoura. Also the father of Figalus, built ancient Figalia. The Figalians with Iktinos (the architect of the Parthenon), built the great temple of Epicurios Apollo, who helped them conquer back their city from the Spartans.

Swimsuit and athletic shoes are a must if you are going to try it in summer.

HAPPY Geocaching!!!

The Cache

The cache is placed near the waterfalls lake and it is a big-sized Lock & Lock container wrapped with a plastic bag and corded with a ribbon.
You can see it with his initial contents here. Except all the others it has a nice FTF award, gift for the fist finder of the cache.

The GPS signal is very poor in the area of the cache so we help you with the HINT and the spoiler photo.
You can start your route from the settlement of Ancient Phigaleia (Archaia Figaleia) or from the village Platania. Read instructions in the following Links.
Please, hide the cache carefully, exact as you found it.
