Gull Point
Lake Erie has been labeled one of the most dangerous Great Lakes
due to the strong winds and high waves that can develop in a short
amount of time. This powerful force moves sand and other material
in the direction of the wind and waves, sculpting Presque Isle into
the peninsula visitors enjoy. Since the 1900’s the eastern end of
the peninsula has been growing, this relatively new area has been
named Gull Point, and consists approximately of 288 acres that is
constantly changing, which is home to a variety of plants and
animals. Today Gull Point continues to take shape with every wave,
creating one of the most unique ecosystems in PA. Please follow the
trail to the cache site and not the beach way. Some areas on the
beach might be obstructed.
