Leave it to Beaver Traditional Cache
team moxiepup: When we stopped by to check on the cache today, we discovered that the old beaver lodge in which it was hidden had collapsed from heavy winter snows (coupled with the absence of any resident beavers making repairs and swapping new branches for old punky sticks)! We were able to retrieve the cache after a bit of digging, but as a cache site, it is pretty much toast. We hope to have a new one up in the area soon!

This cache is located at Black Brook Preserve, part of the Windham Land Trust. The Black Brook Preserve is a beautiful area, containing rolling hills, mature trees, brooks, a variety of wildlife, plant life, and birds. Deer, beaver, coyote, fox, porcupines, raccoons, wild turkeys, partridge, skunks, owls, & egrets are among the wildlife seen here. There are several informative signs along the trail.
We did some trail work with the Windham land trust and one of the trail leaders recommended this site as a great spot for a cache. We must say, we agreed! The area used to be home to beavers, but a flood a few years ago had caused enough damage to their habitat, that they decided to move on. You can still see a lot of evidence that they were here though! Cache is a small lock n' lock.
In Summer, there are some thorny stemmed plants in the area, so pants and /or care is recommended. Not a problem now, as they have already died back with the first frost.
