Geocache Description:

Millswood railway station is a closed railway station on the Belair Railway Line in Adelaide, South Australia. It is situated 5.9 km from Adelaide Railway Station, adjacent to the Goodwood Road underpass, on the border of the suburbs of Millswood and Kings Park.

The station opened circa 1910. The platforms were constructed of earth-filled concrete each side of the dual tracks, which were both broad gauge until 1995. There were timber framed, iron clad open passenger shelters on each platform. The two outbound Unley Park and Hawthorn stations had similar shelters. A ticket office was provided on the Up (Western) platform. In the second half of 1974, it was open between 6:15 am to 1:05 pm Mondays, 6:15 am to 12:20 pm Tuesday โ€“ Friday and 7:30 am to 12:20 pm Saturday. The ticket office was demolished during August 1985, and the original shelters were in due course removed in March 1988 and replaced with the 'bus' type shelters that are seen at some stations on the TransAdelaide network.

Millswood Station was closed permanently on 28 April 1995, simultaneously with stations at Clapham and Hawthorn despite criticism from nearby residents, with the conversion of the western broad gauge track to standard gauge under the One Nation programme. A number of reasons were quoted as justification for the closures, including poor patronage, the excessive number of stations between Goodwood and Lynton and their closeness to each other, and the impracticability of single-line working with so many stations and so few crossing points.

The western platform was demolished in 2007. As of 2009, there remains on the Down (eastern) platform, the shelter with seats removed, and a disused speaker.

The majority of Adelaide Metro rail network maps continue to show gaps on the Belair line where Millswood, and the other disused stations on the Belair line, have been removed.

Millswood Multi Cache.

This is a simple Multi-cache with the final location further along the railway because Millswood station is too close to Terminator [GC13P73] to allow another GZ to be located here. To find the final location visit Millswood Station at the given co-ordinates. You should be at a three panel sign for the trains, there are three numbers on this sign (ABC, DE and F), reading from top to bottom assign A to the first number, B to the second, etc... until the last, F to the sixth number.

The final location is at S34 57.(D+F)(A+C)(E-F) E138 35.(E-B)(B+A)(F-D)
