Unfortunately, it's been prone to being muggled, maybe more so lately, despite being part way up a hill and not easy to get to. The opening of the new walking bridge to the Friendship Arch has probably increased traffic through the area, making it both an added reason to visit the area and an added challenge to find the geocache unnoticed.

Since I'm not able to be regularly visiting it to replace and maintain it, I've decided to let this cache sail off into the sunset. With the location freed up, maybe someone can come up with a cool hide showcasing the recent upgrades in this area.

Thanks to all the finders. Happy caching.

Geocache Description:

This cache adds another icon to the types of caches in Kyiv, and at the time of hiding was the only letterbox hybrid cache in Ukraine.

PLEASE REHIDE THE CACHE WELL! It has been muggled several times, and found out of its hiding spot, so please take the time to make sure it it placed back in a stable way and hidden from sight as much as possible to minimize the chance of it going missing again. Thank you.

A prominent figure in Kyiv's history is Prince St. Volodymyr, who is credited with bringing Christianity to Kyiv. He ruled Kievan Rus' from 980–1015A.D., and was originally a pagan, but converted to Christianity in 988A.D.. In the same year he became baptized, and shortly after initiated a mass baptism of the people of Kyiv in the Dnieper River. He built churches and monasteries in different cities, and was later canonized as Saint Vladimir.

The monument of St. Volodimir was dedicated in 1853, and stands on a hill overlooking the Dnieper River.

The cache is hidden not far from the monument, and is a small round container painted grey. The terrain rating is for the last 10m to the cache, which is up a steep hill. You can walk along sidewalks up until that point.

This cache is a Geocache/Letterbox Hybrid. The container has a geocache log sheet to sign, and a separate letterboxing log sheet and a small stamp (you will need to bring your own inkpad for it). If you have your own stamp, use it when signing the letterbox log, and use the cache's stamp in your own logbook. Please leave the Letterbox stamp there as it is not for trading.
