CAMEL TRAIL "X" Traditional Cache

History of Camel Trails around Najad Plateau is quite fascinating. It is indeed a gift from the people of the past signifying their achievements of building engineering marvels without heavy equipment and machinery. One wonders how they moved such slabs of stone and placed them so accurately for their beasts of burden to traverse difficult terrain and cross barren and hostile escarpments. The existence of this part of the main camel trail outside Riyadh, which has served the Hajj Caravans as well as frankincense traders for centuries, was hypothesized in a family discussion on Camel Trails, then marked on a piece of map and finally discovered during our weekly escapades from Riyadh to the Tuwaiq escarpment. The cache was placed six years back and was only recently decided to be made available to all geocachers, with a new box and logbook. Cache is quite visible to the expert eye. GPS accuracy is within few meters. Take your camera and some water with you while enjoying the beauty of this camel trail decorated with fossils on your way up. Ruins of a small post can be found on the foot of the trail to photograph. Once on the top, please make sure not to touch or disturb anything “unusual”.
The cache is accessible to 2WD and is not suitable for children under 12. Extreme stealth is required as you would be quite visible from a distance. Remember "Not To Litter" and "Cache In Trash Out".
