A small clip lock box placed at a quiet location with a superb view & the bonus of a trig point for "tickers"
This is near one of my favorite spots as you hardly ever see anybody else up here and that includes weekends. I recommend parking at the end of the old Lightwood reservoir service road at SK054789. I have parked here many times and never had any problems (just take usual precautions i.e. no valuables left on show). You can start here and take in the following caches on a circular route around the edge of Combs Moss.
GC13C7Y Davids first cache
GC9B05 Lightly wooded walk
GC2023A Black Edge View
GC2023M Quarry View
GC12E9J Castle Naze hill fort
GC19EPY Flo`s Farm
GCQJGR Combs Edge
GCQAVT Corbar View.
Try to pick a clear day and you will be rewarded with some of the best views in the Peak District. You can see at least 8 working / disused quarries from up here. You can also see evidence of lead mining and limestone burning on the outskirts of Dove Holes. Buzzards, Harriers & Kestrels can usually be seen soaring above the edge.
