Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates are the location of the start of the trail, not the cache. Please use the waypoint below for parking. To get to the cache, you will need to follow the reflective arrows through the haunted woods.

The cache is located a short walk through the haunted woods at witches cottage. Witches Cottage is a ruined building in the heart of the woods that is reputed to belonged to a local witch. This may be the residence of "Old Mother Leakey". There are two stories related to "Old Mother Leakey", the most famous appears to have been popularised by Sir Walter Scott in his poem "Rokeby" in 1813.

During her time in Minehead, she was famous for wrecking ships by whipping up storms in the harbour. She was eventually burned and mounted, as a trophy, on a stake in Minehead harbour. The stake can still be seen rising out of the water in the entrance to the harbour.

There is however another more sinister and darker story that preceded this one. If you dare, you could investigate it on the internet, however I think it is far too scary to be included with the cache details.

People tell me that they can still hear the witch moving around the ruined cottage after sunset. Dare you visit?

To get to the cache, you need to follow the triangular reflective arrows. The first arrow is located near the hinge on the top edge of the wooden gate at the above coordinated. Follow the lower of the three paths that leave this point. All the tags are located at about head height. When you get to a tree with two arrows on, turn left. You are at the cottage. The arrows will lead you to the cache location.

Disclaimer
Around the back of the cottage, there is a wall with a 4' drop, so keep an eye on the kids in the dark.
I cannot be held responsible for any curses that are put on you whilst seeking this cache!!!!

It looks like I made a small mistake with the coordinates for the parking location. I have now corrected them. You should find yourself on the hairpin on Burgundy road and not in the harbour. The trail starts within a few hundred metres. Sorry
