lightmann: Won't be around much for the next year or so. Trimming down the number of caches I'm keeping active. This has been a fun one. Thanks to all visiting cachers.

Geocache Description:

A geocache dedicated to admitted cache-aholics. Off Dodson Rd. then east on Road 3 to the end. A public fishing spot along the Winchester Wasteway. A nice area that doesn't seem to be visited too often.

Hello, my name is lightmann and I'm a cache-aholic.

A few days ago (Sep. 26, 2009 to be exact) I found my 1000th cache on Hwy 97 after a day of caching with Wulffy in the mountains east of Liberty.

Now, when I first started caching in Feb. 2005 I didn't think I would ever hit 1000 caches....ever. I'd see that other cachers had found 1000 caches and actually thought that they were slightly deranged. And 2 or 3 thousand caches? --- well, let's don't even go there ;-j But then eventually I hit 500 and realized, oh-oh, I might actually be starting to become one of........the addicted.

Anyway, when I first started geocaching in '05 there were around 600,000 caches worldwide give or take fifty thousand or so. Most cachers have probably noticed at the bottom of the geocaching.com home page that it notes the current total number of worldwide caches. As I was typing this report the number was 924,213. Soon it will be over one million!

I've noticed a few cachers with over 10,000 finds! --- now they are obsessed! and have a lot of time on their hands!.......and are having a whole lotta fun. I admit this hobby can easily become addicting......I'm not addicted, not addicted, not addicted............

To date I've averaged .589 caches/day. Doing the math that means it would take me 46.5 more years to hit 10,000 caches. Hmmmm ---- that's a lot of gas and junk food stops.

So anyway, here is a cache in honor of those who readily admit addiction to finding little containers hidden in strange out-of-the-way places. Whether it's your first cache or your 10,000th cache come on out and sign the log. And yes, you're going to have to stomp through some sagebrush to find it.

I ASK ONLY ONE THING. It's not required, but when you log your find on the website look at the bottom of the homepage and record in your post the number of worldwide caches there are on the day that you log in. As time goes by the logs will show the running increase in the total # of geocaches.

So go -- search -- have fun -- enjoy the view -- remember CITO -- trade some swag and log the total # of worldwide caches on the day that you post your find.

Driving to the end of the road leads to a parking area where a Fish and Wildlife parking permit is required. These permits are available any place you can purchase a fishing license. They come with a fishing liscense or you can get the parking permit separately. This is a handy permit to have if you do much caching in the boonies.

Or, if one watches the GPSr on the way in before arriving at the parking area when you hit ~~250 feet from the cache you could park along the west side of the road long enough to cross the fence (this is okay) and grab the cache without using the F&W parking area.

Cache is a large camo'ed PB jar. Didn't see any, but possible unfriendly snake habitat.

That is all.
