Geocache Description:

NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES (but you do need to use them… read on)
BYOP!

This puzzle cache requires you to do some sleuthing online and in the field. Follow the instructions below to get the actual coords:

For the necessary info for the north coordinates, you need to find out a little about the piece of property this cache is located on. First, look on the map on this cache page, or plug the posted coordinates into your GPSr and see where they are.

Next, using the Dakota County Real Estate Inquiry, (which is excellent for finding public property in Dakota County), find the parcel the posted coordinates are located in. Once you identify the parcel, you will be given some information about it. The numbers you need are the Parcel ID, its Acreage, and its address. Use those numbers to solve for XX by solving the following equation.

N 44° 43.5XX

(Take each digit in the Parcel ID and add them together + The total acreage of the parcel rounded UP to the nearest round number) – (The first digit of the parcel’s address) = XX

For the west coords, you need to make two quick stops in the park. Bring a pencil and paper for some easy math in the field. The best place to start from is the listed parking coordinates.

W 92° 50.ABB

A = The number of posts that hold up the big gazebo in the park (It’ll be obvious what I’m talking about once you’re there, but there is a set of coords for this listed below under “Gazebo.”)

BB = (The number of vertical poles, including the two supports at each end, of the small section of fence at the “Fence” coords listed below) + 7

There is some GPS bounce issues near GZ, so I will say this: Keep your feet on the ground, there is no need to climb up on any rocks to make the find. The cache is somewhere between a micro and a small. A dog tag TB fits inside it if it’s attached to something small. The actual hide shouldn’t be too hard once you get there. There are some dropoffs in the area, so please be careful and use common sense when hunting this cache.

Enjoy the views of the Vermillion River, and the cool rock formations near GZ. See if you can find the mini-cave that's about 30 feet southeast of GZ. Also, make sure to check out the waterfall that gives this park its name. There’s a traditional cache located near the falls (Down by the Falls – GC1Q79J).

I hope you enjoy this one! Happy hunting!
