Geocache Description:

A night cache in Cottonwood Park. Make sure to bring a flashlight.

This is my new favorite type of cache to put out since we don't have any around here. Park at the coordinates listed and head towards the trail leading west. Once you get onto the very beginning of the trail, with the large rock on your left, you are ready to start. From here, shine your light down the trail. You are looking for fire tacks. Small glowing spots that reflect your light. They glow the brightest if you keep your flashlight at about eye level while you search.

Follow the tacks as they lead in the proper direction. They are 100-200 feet apart at most. Each time you get to a tack, scan the area for the next one. You will be able to see all of them from the trail. You may need to move left or right on the trail if you can't spot it right away from where you are standing.

When you reach a double tack, scan both directions the trail goes to find the right way.

When you reach the set of three tacks in a row vertically, you are at the site of the cache. Cache is a Bison tube with reflective tape. It is within 1 1/2 feet of the three tacks. Once you are 20' or so from the tacks, leave the trail on the left side to see it best. Had to move it because it was muggled. Maybe it will be out of reach of the kiddies now.

Cache is 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk at most. Easy terrain. No bushwhaching.

Get this one while you can.....I've had to go out three times since placing it to replace firetacks and the cache. Apparently the kids that roam the park are fascinated with anything that glows and take it. Bark has been ripped off trees to get a stupid thumbtack with reflector on it. Mini muggles.....what can I do. I'll try to keep up with them.

Good luck and have fun!

Congrats to tugies on the FTF!
