Geocache Description:

Ahhhhhhhhh... This cache is hidden on the western edge of one of the most remote and scenic parks in the East Bay. Isolation and wilderness make hiking here a special experience. The day I placed the cache there was also an abundance of wildlife. I saw deer, golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, a black-shouldered kite, quail (tons of them), raccoon and bobcat tracks.

The trailhead is located at N 37° 49.233' W 121 51.431', however, parking is not allowed. The closest parking is on the side of the road ½ mile away at N 37° 48.761' W 121° 51.438'. The walk to the trailhead will give you an opportunity to drool over the picturesque ranches and quaint homes along the narrow roadway. At the trailhead, maps are available and since there is only one way to get to the cache, it should be obvious which trails to take. Although the distance to the cache is nearly 3 miles from where you park, the hike is fairly easy with some gradual elevation changes (550' gain over 3 miles). The cache is about 200'off-trail and is easily reached by following the appropriate animal path. I didn't see any poison oak in the area and there were very few weed seeds.

Have fun, be safe and tread lightly!
