Now ...
Miss Marple had knitted several pair of baby booties as I recounted my saga. As I looked into her knitting case, I was shocked to see a disembodied hand feeding her the yarn. I asked, "What is that thing?" and as Wednesday became Thor's day, I was introduced to Thing.
My sleep-deprived brain wondered how she/he/it could understand me. But I continued on...
After fleeing from the witch, I lost any sense of direction and wandered through the swamp. I explained that while I didn't know Jack from Addams, I still felt some sense of duty or compulsion to find all his parts.
Finally, exhausted, I stopped. In that moment, I heard a beat. Like a heartbeat, blood pumping in a fear-filled brain. Louder and louder, coming closer. Yet, rather than filling me with dread, it touched a memory of dots and dashes and I knew that I was receiving a message ... a message that would come in handy.
