Geocache Description:

A quick park and grab in an area rich with history.

In the early 1700's a coastal storm opened an inlet at the northern end of Currituck Sound connecting to the Atlantic Ocean. Since water was the dominant mode of transportation for heavy lumber in these times Shingle Landing became a thriving seaport. Shingles, barrel staves and other wood products were shipped directly from Shingle Landing Creek in vessels bound for oversea ports. The inlet closed in the mid 1800's, but timbering continued in the area with the shipping channels being the Dismal Swamp Canal and later the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal.
Ironically, Shingle Landing Creek was originally named Moyock Creek and the town of Moyock used to be called Shingle Landing.

This is a cursed cache for all First to Finder's. If you are the FTF for this cache, you are cursed until you place "Curse of the FTF #10 (Albemarle)" therefore extending the series. This concept is in play in other areas and the series are going strong. Please keep this one within the Albemarle Area (Dare, Currituck, Camden, Pasquotank, Gates, Perquimans, or Chowan counties)

Guidelines for this series are as follows:

* FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (The Curse of the FTF # (Albemarle Area) within 2 months. Otherwise the curse will prevent you from ever getting another FTF again!!!
* You can only be a FTF for this series once. This spreads the FTF love around, and gives others a chance to play along.
* Cache may be of any type (Puzzle, Multi, etc.) and any size (nano, micro, small etc)
* You must include this set of guidelines in your listing for the series, and include the list of all who have been cursed before you.

Clarification, there is no requirement besides signing the cache log when found. Everyone should log their find and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find.
