Geocache Description:

NOTE: If you choose to pursue this cache via the mushing trails during the winter, please go very early or very late in the day, avoiding the hours of 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. LadyBugKids has provided links to an Alaska Sled Dog Racing Association (ASDRA) race schedule and a mushing trail map in his note logged 2/7/10. There is a high risk for everyone if someone uses the trail at the wrong time, as dog teams travel silently at speeds exceeding 20 mph. Thanks, BP.

Part V of a Halloween saga.

Previously:

I had happened upon Jack's skull
his ears burning
his twisted tongue
his eye opener

Now ...

Tuesday dawned and as Kev or Kian departed, the room where I was relating my tale was filled with sound, bringing back memories of recent history, maybe 2001.

Out of the sound came a voice, a calming voice. The voice said I could call him Hal.

I explained to Hal how I had run from fright when I'd found Jack's eyeball. In the darkness, I ran and ran until I came upon a fence. I followed that fenceline, wondering all the while if it would be okay to hide in there. But with tank trails I thought it might be a Fort and knew that would be off limits.

Just as I thought that thought, I became entangled in a barbed wire enclosure and a disembodied voice began to drone in a monotone.

It said: "There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits."

At that point I understood that I was not only in the body (part) zone, but I was at the Outer Limits of the body (part) zone. This brought hope that freedom may soon be mine. However, after an hour I reasoned that I was being brainwashed and that I would need to move on. Doing so, I almost tripped over the recording system and out popped Jack's teeth, all in a ring.

CONGRATULATIONS to Valerieseaker on the FTF!
