Waterfall lovers and/or off-road fans will love this cache and its' companion! We discovered these falls on Sugar Creek on Rich Stevenson's website, ncwaterfalls.com just recently and just had to put a cache here! When Sugar Creek Rd goes to gravel, take the left branch. There are 3 options for parking depending on the vehicle you are in. You may park at the parking coords just past the one-lane bridge and have about a .35 mile hike. You may do some off-roading for another .1 mile and park right before the creek crossing. Or you may drive within a few yards of the cache if you have a good high clearance vehicle to clear the rocks in the creek. (these 4X4 roads go everywhere in this area!) If the road is blocked with a no trespassing sign, park and walk--it is not that far. We have been told that it is ok to go to the falls through this private property. The falls are not on private property. (see note 6/15/14) The coords for the cache are for the point in the road where you will see the falls. Due to lots of downed trees, take the upper trail to the left of the second set of two huge rocks to descend almost at the base of the falls. You must go down to the creek to see both of the falls and to find the cache. We could not get satellite reception down by the creek, but the clue should help you find the cache with no problem. Enjoy! Small cash prize for FTF.
