Geocache Description:

Kind of creepy. The whole house is gone. Nothing left. Well... almost nothing.

Found this spot while out scouting before the TrailMix. DJHobby was along.

Wonder what the story was on this place. Having found any number of old homestead sites over the years I've always enjoyed the whole amateur archeologist thing. Finding the outline of the foundation, the odd dish or two, maybe old farm equipment. This site here is strange, though. Its as if the place were wiped off the face of the earth. The tell tale pricker bushes are a good sign that a house was here. That and the way the land sits up off to the side of the old road. There just had to be some artifacts to find. But no, there were none. Not even two stones sitting next to each other. We did eventually find one feature to confirm that, at some point, people lived here. And it appears that someone went to great lengths to seal this thing up. You have to wonder: Were they trying to keep something out? Or were they trying to keep something from getting out? The whole time at this site there was this strange noise going on. Almost like crying in the distance. We couldn't figure out if it was some kind of bird neither of us had heard before, or maybe two trees rubbing together in the wind. The noise started when we walked onto the area where the house was. It stopped when we left. Maybe it was something related to the sad situation over at "Tear Trap", Redhawk44p's cache up the way... (see: GC1YH30... no one EVER goes there...) In any event, the cache container is INSIDE of the sealed up feature of this location. PLEASE use caution! And please be sure to seal things up as you found them. Just in case.
