This cache is in our favorite cemetery and is only available during daylight hours. There is a lot of local history represented here. The cache is not on or around any grave site or stone. ****Please note that there is a small walk in gate on Ann Street that is open from dawn to dusk. Please use that entrance. You do not have to climb fences to get to this cache. If there are more instances of this type of behavior, this cache will be archived.*******
Riverview Cemetery is located on Juliana Street in Parkersburg, WV near the old DeSales academy site. It is one of the oldest in the county, dating back to the 1800's. Buried there are many important people to West Virginia's history, including former Governors, cousins to General Stonewall Jackson, both Union and Confederate Soldiers, and the wife of the man who designed the West Virginia state seal. Many others are buried here as well, and it is those who are said to still be in the cemetery to this day as ghosts. Many tales surround this old cemetery. One such is the weeping woman stature. It is said to be able to grant wishes, as well as "walk" around the cemetery, and has been reported to mess with clothing, such as unzipping jeans. Other stories include a Sea Captain who watches over his grave. (The Sea Captains house was a couple of blocks down the road on Juliana Street. Black Dogs are seen in the cemetery, as well as many other apparitions. One stature is said to be "unphotographable", as it never comes out clear.
