SLAGA Winter Potluck & Cabin Fever Event Cache

Join us for another winter get-together!

This year Mrs RGS will be running the show. As in the past 3 years, we have had a wonderful varity of food, from main dishes, salads, side dishes, and deserts. Hopefully we can keep this tradition going with a few others this year bringing the meat and/or main dishes.

Where: Jefferson Barracks/Grant Shelter

When: 11AM - 5 PM

Date: Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Who: Everyone! This will be a potluck so bring a dish to share. Bring your own drinks as well.

About the shelter:

The place is heated
The county will furnish firewood for the fireplace
Plenty of electricity
Restrooms in the shelter
Water available and a "slop" sink but no kitchen.

Last year we had a lot of activities going on, such as the TB race, TB table, auction items, everything is $3 table, geo bingo, coin table, etc. This was a lot of work for the volunteers who set up and manned the tables or managed the activity. Hopefully we can do those things again and even other activities. All it takes are some ideas and a little help. Let me know if you'd like to help out with anything and/or have ideas for activities.

Back in January of 2009, Ranger Shaun Dultz procurred the shelter again for us and guaranteed we would have it all day. This means we have to setup the tables and chairs AND take them all down at the end of the day.

We look forward to getting together again this winter and talking about caches we have done, caches we want to find, and swapping stories of caching experiences. There are several caches in the park but there is nothing planned as far as group hunts. We would like to focus on fellowship and getting to know each other and the many new cachers.

This is also a good opportunity to invite local land managers that you have personally worked with. Have them come out for some food and friendship and get to know some of the cachers in the area. As before, several of the St. Louis County Park rangers have already accepted our invitation. Please contact your local land manager or parks department and invite them to come out. It is our appreciation for letting us play in their parks.
