Luftschutzbunker
Die höchste Erhebung Freudenburgs, das
Naturschutzgebiet
Eiderberg (440 Meter ü.n.N.), ist wegen der dort wachsenden
Orchideen
weitreichend bekannt. Auf dem dortigen Muschelkalkstein gedeihen
seltene Orchideenarten, wie z.B. Hummel- und Fliegenragwurtz und
die weiße Waldhyazinthe. Daher ist das
Naturschutzgebiet ein
begehrtes Ausflugsziel vieler Orchideenfreunde, ist aber auch
das Ziel vieler Spaziergänger und Wanderer. Von dort bietet sich
dem Betrachter ein Panoramablick über die gesamte Gegend bis hin
zum
Kirchberg, ein
Stadtteil Luxemburgs.
Auch die unmittelbare
Umgebung Freudenburgs
ist von ihrer Naturbelassenheit geprägt und bietet
unvergessliche Einblicke in die Frühzeit unserer Erdgeschichte.
Die bizarren Buntsandsteinformationen auf dem Weg nach
Kollesleuken oder dem
Felsenweg bei
Kastel-Staadt
erzählen spannende Geschichten und lassen die Zeit ahnen, die
vergangen ist seit Wind und Wetter diese Formationen
ausgewaschen hat.
Wäre die Landschaft hier entwaldet und wüstenähnlich. Es würde
sich wohl ein ähnliches Bild wie am
Grand Canyon bieten. Aber gerade unsere
waldreiche Umgebung bietet natürlichen Lebensraum für viele
Wildtiere.
Auch gut zu verbinden mit dem sehr empfehlenswerten
EarthCache (Trierer Bucht
- Eiderberg) im Naturschutzgebiet Eiderberg der sich im
Steinbruch von Freudenburg befindet.
Der Weg zum Cache ist für Geländekinderwagen, bis auf die
letzten 50 Meter, sehr gut geeignet.
Mit Fahrrädern ist der Weg bis auf die letzten Meter sehr gut
machbar.
Es muss nicht geklettert oder gegraben werden.
Bitte fahrt nicht mit dem Auto bis zum Final!
Autos werden da nicht gerne gesehen, bzw. der Weg ist nicht
asphaltiert.
Benutzt doch bitte einen der vielen Parkplätze bei den
Startkoordinaten.

Under hills - The air defence

The highest elevation of Freudenburg, the
nature reserve of
Eiderberg (440 metres o.n.z.), is known because of the
orchids growing there
extensively. On the mussel limestone there prosper rare orchid
kinds, as for example "Hummelragwurz" and "Fliegenragwurtz" and
the white forest hyacinth. Hence, the
nature reserve is a
popular destination of many orchid friends, however, the aim is
also a lot of stroller and traveller. From there a panoramic
look about the whole area up to the
Kirchberg, a part of
town of Luxembourg comes up to the viewer.
Also the immediate
surroundings of
Freudenburg are marked by her natural and offer
unforgettable insights into the early time of our history of the
earth. The weird new red sandstone formations on the way to
Kollesleuken or the
rock way with
Kastel-Staadt tell
exciting stories and foreshadow the time, has passed since wind
and weather these formations has washed out.
If the scenery was deforested here and similar to desert. It
would probably offer itself a similar picture like in the
Grand Canyon. But just our surroundings rich in
wood offer natural living space for many wild animals.
To connect well also with the very recommendable

- Eiderberg) in the nature reserve of Eiderberg itself in
the stone quarry of Freudenburg considers.
The way to the cache is suited for area baby carriage, up to the
last 50 metres, very well.
By bicycles the way is very well feasible up to the last
metres.
It must not be climbed or be dug.
Please, do not go by the car up to Final!
Cars are not seen there with pleasure, or the way is not
asphalted.
Nevertheless, uses please one of many parking bays with the start
coordinates.
