Geocache Description:

Head out of Newmilns to a surprising monument at the top of Gallow Law

Past Vesuvius and over the weak bridge. To Windyhill and Middle Third. Then park with True Grit. Down the track and right through the kissing gate. After that, the route to the cairn is pretty straightforward. Built by striking miners in the 1920's to commemorate local covenanters who were persecuted for their religious beliefs in the 17th century, this place is special. Look out for the pebble dashed motto's at the corners and the mirrors fixed in the cairn to catch the glinting sun. (Shame that it was belting down with rain today) The views over the Irvine valley and well beyond are stupendous. I couldn't see very far today - Perhaps you'll let me know what you could see in your logs.
