This is a cache is to preserve the memory of a great Geocaching Doberman named Sushi.
She was my Caching buddy, always at my side. She gave me the confidence to go out to some pretty remote trails, knowing she was there to protect me to the death.
She never complained that the trails were too long or too overgrown, even when she got tangled in the pricker bushes and couldn't move till I cut her out. Little did I know that she had cancer growing in her bones the whole time, she never once complained or turned down a chance to go into the woods with me.
She died 09/09/09 of bone cancer. She was so stoic that I didn't know the pain she was in till the day she died. The Vet said the cancer was so advanced that her leg could break at any time.
This cache is hidden in the last place Sushi took me to in First Landing State Park.
We were out checking on our caches and she ran down the Sand dune to this beautiful hidden trail and we spent most the day exploring it.
It took me a long time to get the Park Ranger to approve this cache, but I kept trying because it was one of Sushi's favorite places to run through the woods at breakneck speed. She would never go out of ear shot of me though, she always had either her eyes or ears tuned into where I was.
I have sprinkled a little of Sushi here so her spirit can always be running free in the woods that she loved.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
There is a well traveled trail to these two stages, no bushwhacking needed. They are a bit off the main trail once you get within 100 feet or so. You might need rubber boots depending on weather. Was told by last finder that Cache was about 55 feet north of the coordinates. Easily visible if you widen your search.
