Geocache Description:

The cache is located on the bridleway leading to / from Wallis Moor. It is in a 900ml clip lock container, with room for a logbook and small swaps. There is a trophy for the First to Find.
Sturdy footwear is recommended, as parts of the bridleway are wet all year round.

Wallis is a small village less than a mile from the B4329, about 7 miles north of Haverfordwest, surrounded by wet heath land and marshy grassland. Much of the moor was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (60ha) in 1988 for the conservation of the Marsh Fritillary Butterfly, whose habitat is the damp, heathy grassland dominated by the tussock-forming grasses of the moor. The cache is not in this designated area but on the approaching bridleway. I would recommend that you keep to the designated paths, as parts of the moor are very wet.

Parking is available by Wallis pond (approx. 1000m from the cache). Please do not take your car up the farm lane which marks the start of the bridleway – there’s nowhere to turn around except on private property! Also please watch out for the various livestock that graze the moor. Some of the local farmers retain their right to graze the common land.
