Bioindicators are organisms that are identified in order to rate the health of an ecosystem. Some species are tolerant of pollution and may be found in many places, others are more sensitive to pollution and only live in clean and healthy habitats. Frogs are often studied as bioindicators.

Community planning helps to preserve local ecosystems, to improve citizens’ quality of life, and to sustain the local economy. West Reading has the Main Street Project to encourage business and community. By keeping local business in town, it helps to reduce suburban sprawl and reduces other environmental impacts. The cache: For the first three stages, you are looking for large colorful frog statues, which make for good photo ops. At each stage, answer the questions listed below about each statue, which will lead you to the next stage. I encourage you to park near the starting coordinates and walk to find the first three stages (round trip should only be 3/4th of a mile). Enjoy the town! Good places to eat, shop, and browse near each stage. The final stage will bring you to an open space park that protects a creek that runs through it. This is another example of good community planning. This creek is designated as high quality as indicated by the real frogs and other bioindicator species that live nearby. The park serves as a riparian buffer that protects the creek. Several parking lots are available near the final stage. You are looking for a camo'd pill container. Please respect park rules. BYOP!
