This cache is located on the Slippery Elm Trail just north of
Ducat. I am not sure what Ducat is or rather was, but it appears on
all the maps. Maybe it is an old railroad town that had appeared
along the tracks. I do not know for sure, but it really isn’t
important.
The Slippery Elm Trail is a former railroad bed turned into a
multi-purpose paved trail. The 13.5 mile trail travels through
Southern Wood County from Bowling Green to North Baltimore. It is a
wonderful trail to spend some time on whether you walk, ride a
bike, jog or roller blade! The cache is a small size Lock &
Lock. I did not have a writing implement small enough to fit in it,
so make sure you bring your own. There is a beautiful view of an
old quarry from the cache site and just north is one of Wood
County’s more interesting homes. I hope you enjoy the
cache!
