We need your help!
If you are local to the Puhoi area, we would love it if you could adopt this cache. This means you'll take full responsibility for it as if it is your own.
Sound good? Please DM us (TeamCacheventures) with more!
Thank you.
Important note:
In June of 2023, the new Ara Tūhono motorway project was opened, extending the existing Northern Motorway up to Warkworth. This also meant that the existing entrypoint to SH1 south of this cache was closed, sealing its fate as part of the newly christened free route of Pohuehue Road - the old SH1. Going northbound is a different story however - you can still decide whether you want to take the free route via Silverdale, or take the toll route and turn right at exit 386 to nab this cache.
Original cache description
There aren't any toll booths, this is a fully automatic system. You have
a few options to pay:
- At one of the selected BP or Caltex service stations (additional fee applies)
- Set up a pre-paid account online
- or pay within 5 days.
See the NZTA website for more information (visit link)
And you can of course take the old route which is FREE and has plenty of caches to find as well.

For those who still can't make up their mind, I placed this cache before the last exit.
So just pick up this cache, sign the log and decide what you will do: Toll or nothing.

The toll road save's you about 15 min travel time.....
Please put in your log if you took the toll road or the free route.
The cache is a 250 ml container with a logsheet and room for Geocoins and small TB's.
Please be aware of the traffic while searching.
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN
