Location provides a beautiful and amazing overlook of Skaneateles Lake.
*5/19/11 - decided to increase difficulty rating just a bit to account for the "nano" cache and the overal terrain a bit since it really is probably not accesible by handicap
*8/19/12 replaced cache container with a brand new one - no longer is it magnetic - now it's a bit bigger and a bison tube type - hopefully this container makes it a bit easier & better for all.
Skaneateles Lake is one of the Finger Lakes in central New York. The name Skaneateles means long lake in one of the local Iroquois languages. It is 16 miles long and on average .75 miles wide and has a maximum depth of 315 feet. The cleanest of the Finger Lakes, its water is so pure that the city of Syracuse and other municipalities use it unfiltered. William Henry Seward called it "The most beautiful body of water in the world."
If you have never seen this view of the lake before it is something to enjoy - and if you have seen it before it's something worth enjoying again.
