The Cemetery is not at the cache site. You can see the cemetery from there and visa versa. If you wish to visit a nice cemetery the people who maintain it and the families in the area are happy to see people enjoy the spot. The views are amazing.
The area of Monte Creek was originally known as 'Ducks' after Jacob Duck, an Englishman, purchased a ranch in the area in 1863. Supposedly he bought the ranch for a few hundred dollars worth of gold dust from a Mexican named 'Monte'. In 1896, the area became known as 'Monte Creek'. St. Peter's Church was established by the Anglicans in the area before 1900. The St. Peter's Church Cemetery was established in 1924.
The cemetery is approximately an acre in size and well maintained by the residents who live next to the cemetery. It is enclosed by a wire fence on all sides with a metal gate enclosing the area. The graves are laid out east/west.
The majority of the monuments are made of concrete, stone, marble and granite. There is a mix of old, upright markers and flat markers.
Although a part of St. Peter's Church the actual cemetery is not located beside the church.
In order to reach the cemetery from the Trans-Canada Highway, take the Hook Road exit and proceed south on it until the intersection with Dallas Road.
Turn east onto Dallas Road and proceed approximately 1.6 km until the intersection with Monte Creek Road.
Turn right onto Monte Creek Road and proceed approximately 300 meters until 1647 Monte Creek Road (Red Haven Acres).
Park and walk between the two driveways to the gate. Please close the gate.
